I had never heard of a Fish Camp prior to moving to Florida. Three years now in Florida and we have visited a handful thus far. One thing most seem to have in common; they are little more than run down shacks on the water where fisherman and / or air boaters hang out often bringing their catch for the day to be done up right there on the spot. Whereas Lone Cabbage Fish Camp is one that fits the image of run down but still acceptable for food service, after a few visits we will not be returning. Just a little "too" rare (buggy) for us.
However Jolly Gator, albeit run down, is clean, with good food to boot. The usual fare of food is just what you would expect. Lots of Gator and Fish basket type entrees and even Fish Swamp Soup. It is located here (google maps) on the St Johns river... with a flurry of Air-boats coming and going all the time.
But wait, there's more!
Jolly Gator Fish Camp has a screened room in back off the dining area, which acts as an extended dining area and small bar and stage. Every Sunday a band named "Parlor Jones Project" sets up about 1pm to play until 6pm. Even more interesting is they welcome others to bring their guitar, keyboard, whatever and join in. Pretty cool. Following are a couple short videos I made.
