Next Steps for Full-Time RVing
Well, it appears the mobile home is finally sold for $11,000. We close on Monday morning.
On Tuesday, my brother Richard is coming out to help unload some of the stuff. Hopefully my sister and her son Adam will come take some items too.
So on Tuesday afternoon, I hope to head out to pick up a fifth wheel and begin my full-time RVing. I have three different ones in mind:
- Least desired (28 ft nearest and easiest to get): The sales rep, was kind enough to offer me a new battery the other day if I went up that day to look at it ON THAT DAY. I have a thought here: How about she puts it in, or I don't even leave the house?
- Most desired (36 ft toy hauler in New Jersey): It’s a toy hauler, which I really want, but it’s not as huge as some. It’s a bit of a haul, but I’ll go there if its still available come Tuesday.
- Second choice (38 ft toy hauler about 3 hours away in Ohio): Closer than New Jersey but still a bit of a haul. This one is out of my price range, but I’ll take a shot and see if they’ll accept a low offer I can afford. It looks a little beat up in the photos, and it’s huge. I’ve hauled big ones like this in the past and know it’s going to be difficult getting fueled with a gas engine in my truck.
My main concern with any of these is the wheel bearings and how recently they’ve been greased. I’ll just have them greased before any long trips to Florida. A 3-year-old Teton fifth wheel once caught fire on my trip home from Florida because of one of the bearings—it destroyed the axle. I don’t need a replay of that.
Anyway, that’s where I am right now.
