I first met Marlene in the mid-1970s shortly after I returned from the army, thanks to an introduction from her sister, Diane. Although we dated briefly during that time, it was not meant to be. Being 8 years older than Marlene, her mother had reservations about our relationship. Eventually, life led us both to marry and pursue our individual paths. Throughout the years, there were moments when my ex-wife Kathy and I would reconnect with Marlene and her husband, Bill, along with their family.
Fast forward to several decades later: I found myself once again crossing paths with Marlene one summer day in 2023 at Eat n Park in Chippewa. Both of us experiencing solitude, we discovered a comforting connection between us. Our time together mostly consisted of lunches, but we often enjoyed our visits to the Rogers, Ohio flea market—one of Marlene's favorite places.
About a month ago, our joy was overshadowed when Marlene was unexpectedly hospitalized due to severe cancer. She passed 10:53 PM on Thursday, March 13th, 2025. Her absence will be deeply felt—not just by me, but by so many others who loved her. I extend my heartfelt condolences to her family, Tia, Tina, and Harley. Marlene will truly be missed.

The last time Marlene visited, she brought a case of beer along. Funny thing is, she only ended up drinking one! So, that entire case is still chilling in my fridge.
Today is shaping up to be a lovely day, and I’m heading out to Rogers flea market. I thought it would be great to bring the beer with me!
Feel free to join and enjoy a last beer ...on Marlene! Cheers!
