For years, I have occasionally visited Texas Roadhouse in various states. I have always ordered the same main course, their "Chicken Critters," and have raved to many others about how moist and tender they are, practically melting in your mouth.
Having lived in Florida these past several years, I always took advantage of a Texas Roadhouse visit any time our travels took us near one. Originally from Monaca, prior to Florida, I was well acquainted with the Texas Roadhouse on Wagner Road. So, while back in the area, I looked forward to yet another great meal.
Imagine my disappointment when the Chicken Critters were no longer the same. They were nothing more than the same quality as chicken tenders from just about any grill or bar. They even looked different, resembling average chicken tenders. Something has clearly changed. The process? More likely the sourced product, I suspect.
Along with my meal, I also ordered my typical Long Island Iced Tea, which I profess was excellent as always. I was a bit surprised when I finished my drink and paid the check, and neither the bartender nor her trainee questioned my nearly untouched meal, as all I had eaten was two fingers, a couple of steak fries, and all the green beans.
Needless to say, I will not return to the Wagner Road Texas Roadhouse. I hope a visit to another one does not prove as disappointing, in hopes that the process or source has not changed at all of them. But I fear it has. We'll see.
