After spending nearly a month boondocking at McBride Canyon Campground, I’ve really gotten to know the town of Fritch and several local spots worth telling others about.
One thing you should know about my reviews: reliable Wi-Fi is pretty important to me. I actually dropped my cell service so I could enjoy the simple pleasure of milk on my cereal each morning!
Love’s Market is such a gem—it’s not just a supermarket, it’s also a handy hardware store! One morning I headed out intending to do regular grocery shopping and jotted down that I needed a new plug for my shoreline RV connection. Who knew I’d find it right there without even leaving the store? I was pleasantly surprised!
I visit almost every day now. They have great Wi-Fi, so I usually check my bank accounts before I even walk in. The people who work there are genuinely friendly, and I’ve probably asked just about every one of them for help finding something at some point—whether it’s hardware, groceries, liquor, or the bar area.
It’s become my favorite little one-stop shop! 😊
Chris's Kitchen is a real gem! The food is absolutely fantastic, and you won't believe the quality and portions you get for such a great low price.
Just a heads-up: when you order an iced tea, be ready for a massive cup — you'll need both hands to carry it! One lasts me about two days every time.
The only downside is the Wi-Fi. It connects fine and has decent download speeds, but the DNS resolution is painfully slow. It takes forever for pages to be found, (hint change DNS to Google or Cloudfare)... so I’ve stopped using it altogether.
Overall, highly recommend the food — just bring your own hotspot if you need reliable internet! 😊
The Moose Barn is basically our local liquor store, and I love it! Their drive-thru is super easy and convenient. I've used it a couple of times now, and they accept tap-to-pay, which is a big plus for me since I always use my phone. Highly recommend! 🦌🍻
Coyote Creek Bar has quickly become my go-to spot!
On my first visit, I walked in and realized they didn’t sell liquor. I asked the lady behind the bar if she knew of any other places nearby that did. Even though she knew I wasn’t there to buy anything, she was super helpful — she connected me to their Wi-Fi and helped me find a place called The Dive on my maps. I walked out without spending a penny.
I’ve been back several times since and now I patronize the place regularly. The people there are genuinely friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend!
I probably won’t be returning to Wizard.
The other day I walked in, put my last $3 on the bar, and ordered a Diet Coke. The drink was $2, so the bartender kept the extra dollar as a tip—right after I arrived.
I asked about the Wi-Fi (I had already found the network on my phone), and she checked with the owner. He apparently said no one could have the password. That felt a bit ironic because I had brought my karaoke gear, ready to set up and provide some free entertainment for the evening. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen.
I ended up sitting outside near a group of bikers. The conversation was mostly about motorcycles and the vivid anatomy of the women they’d seen earlier that day. If that kind of atmosphere is your thing, this might be the spot for you. It just wasn’t for me.
