The placement of the speed bumps is fortunately not too intrusive. They are only located at the beginning of the loop, allowing you to race freely around the rest of the track. However, the bumps themselves feel a bit excessive and jarring, which can be a downside. On the positive side, their intensity does help shake off any rust from the car.
Summer weekends at the park are anything but dull, though peace and quiet are hard to come by. Throughout the day, the constant roar of Harleys and motorcycles traveling to and from Marks Landing fills the air.
If the noise from the bikes doesn’t bother you, the park’s maintenance schedule might. Sundays are particularly disruptive, as the park chooses this day to run lawnmowers all day, shattering any hope for a tranquil Sunday. Don’t expect relief on Monday holidays either. I learned on Memorial Day that if you’re seeking a peaceful picnic, you’re better off finding somewhere else to go.
LETTER TO MANAGEMENT:
In many parks I have visited there is often a weekly Jam. I have attached a flyer to invite other Musicians to a weekly Jam. I would like to post in the mail room if it is Okay?
Also Over the past 30 years, I’ve traveled across the country, staying at hundreds of RV and mobile home parks. One consistent focal point in every park is the mail room or community gathering room. This space is visited almost daily by nearly every resident and serves as a key opportunity to showcase the beauty and pride of our community.
Unfortunately, our current mail room is not living up to this potential. First and foremost is the door closure has been broken since I moved in nearly two years ago. Despite frequent visits to the mail room, I’ve noticed no efforts to address this issue. A simple repair could significantly improve the experience for all residents and better reflect the welcoming environment we value.
I hope you’ll consider taking action to fix the door and enhance this vital community space.
MANAGEMENT RESPONSE:
The mail room isn't a community room. I put tables and chairs in the mail room for people to be able to go through their mail, for the kids to watch for the bus, and for me to meet with people.
The community area is the pavilion and once all the other park projects are done we will get it cleaned up for use. It won't be this year we have had to prioritize other projects.
Also the door will be replaced at the mail room along with other repairs. We can not touch anything because there was an accident.
Thank you
In November 2023, I bought a mobile home for $27,900. At the time, it felt like a practical step toward stability. Two years later, when I was ready to move on, everything changed.
I found a buyer who had cash in hand, a steady income, and even offered to pay a full year’s lot rent upfront. The park management refused to approve them. No explanation that made sense—just a flat “no.” After months of trying to sell privately, it became painfully clear: the only way out was to sell the home back to the park itself.
They offered me $11,000.
I took it. After owning the home for just two years, I lost nearly $17,000. It was devastating, but I had no other option if I wanted to leave.
With what was left, I paid $8,000 on a 20 year old fifth-wheel RV. That RV is now my permanent home. I move from one family member’s property to another, parking wherever I’m welcome for a while.
I’m slowly making my way south to Florida. My goal is to get back into resident volunteering at Florida State Parks. If I’m accepted, they’ll let me live on-site for up to four months at a time in exchange for working at the park.
I never pictured my life like this.
Oh well.
This is where I am, and I’ll keep moving forward—one mile, one park, one day at a time.
