When I returned to full-time RV life in November 2025, I initially planned to head back out west — even if it meant revisiting places I’d already seen. Over time, my plans have evolved in exciting new directions.
I knew I wanted to spend the '26-'27 winter out west, so I began researching Quartzsite, Arizona as a prime destination. It offers vast stretches of free BLM (Bureau of Land Management) land for boondocking.
Boondocking means camping with no hookups — no electricity, no water, and no sewer connections. It requires self-sufficiency using solar panels, batteries, generators, and other equipment to live comfortably for weeks at a time. I’ve already started collecting the necessary gear and gained valuable experience by boondocking for 28 days at a park in Mississippi. I’m continuously learning and improving my setup.
While researching Quartzsite on YouTube, I discovered Wonderhussy, a fun and slightly flirtatious creator who explores the deserts around her home outside Las Vegas. Her videos introduced me to fascinating desert locations and adventures I never knew existed — many of which follow historic Route 66.
This led me to learn about the Route 66 100th Anniversary celebrations happening throughout 2026. My current plan is to follow Route 66 starting in Oklahoma and traveling all the way to California, visiting original sites and attractions that are hosting special events this year.

On a side note, I’m also a big railroad enthusiast. The Union Pacific has restored a massive steam engine that will be making a special anniversary run this year from Cheyenne, Wyoming, all the way to Philadelphia by/for the 4th of July. I’ve been watching many videos about its journey.
I keep track of my favorite videos here on my homepage. If you scroll down, you’ll find an Excel spreadsheet with links. Each name is a clickable link that opens the videos without commercials.
My long-term dream is to return to the West, stay there permanently, and perhaps buy land or renovate an old ghost town home. I’d love to live somewhere quiet and remote, staying warm year-round while continuing to explore the beautiful surrounding areas.
