One of my favorite YouTubers is Wonderhussy (from her channel Wonderhussy Adventures). She lives outside Las Vegas in the Death Valley area and creates awesome videos exploring interesting spots in the desert, including classic Route 66 locations like Amboy, California.
Don't let the playful name fool you—this lady has become really skilled at what she does. She's been making high-quality adventure content for years, and I've long been subscribed to her channel.
A recent favorite is this one about the Route 66 Roadrunner's Retreat Classic Neon Sign Relighting Celebration in Chambless, CA (near Amboy). It's all about fans working to restore and relight those iconic old neon signs from abandoned gas stations and diners along the historic route.

Videos like this always inspire me. I often add the featured locations to my 2026 travel map of places I hope to visit this summer. I also scout nearby free camping spots on BLM land to make the trip feasible.
Here's my current custom Google Map with some of these desert/Rt 66 spots pinned (zoomed in around the Amboy area):
If you're into offbeat desert exploration, Route 66 nostalgia, or boondocking adventures, definitely check out Wonderhussy's channel—she captures the weird wonders of the wild west perfectly! 🚗🌵✨
