John W Pike was born in November 1829, in Newbury, Berkshire, England as the son of Thomas Pike and Elizabeth Limmons. He married Mary Ann Martin on 13 July 1882. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 3 daughters. He died on 5 February 1918, in Sandwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts, United States, at the age of 88, and was buried in Sandwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts, United States.

In spite of this marriage certificate showing William's Parents as John & Mary, other evidence shows William Fredrick Pike is NOT the son of John & Mary.
He was raised by them but he is actually the illegitimate son of grandpa Pike's sister, Mary Francis (Fanny) Pike and a guy named Parks. See here
Numerous times I have seen or heard it said that Grandpa Charles A Pike was the Seventh Son. My current records (having documentation to back it up) are those with the asterisks... in the Family Search Site. In the 1880 census, Grandpa Pike was not born yet. I have records showing he was born 31 May, 1881. Notice in this 1880 census there are only 4 boys. This implies to me that there are two earlier boys missing, likely born in Canada... as was John S. Pike. ...
I have heard Margaret on the tapes say her father was the seventh son and he had TWO sisters. I confirmed THREE sisters and kept looking for the discrepancy, until I noticed the 2nd Mary died less than a year old. Likely Margaret never heard of her. But the TWO daughters with the same name caused me to question that. My research DID find documentation of the 2nd Mary.
