I've always said there are three main reasons to stay at an RV park:
1. Overnight stop – It's just a convenient place to park on your way to somewhere else.
2. Destination site – The park itself is the attraction; you can spend your time there and never need to leave.
3. Base for exploring the area – There are specific things nearby you want to see or do.
This trip fell into the third category. I was in the process of moving from Ohio to Florida and needed to visit the Crestview Tax Collector’s office (Florida's equivalent of the DMV in other states) to get my driver's license switched over.
I needed a spot close by, so I booked a night through Harvest Hosts. Big mistake.
After a couple of overly expensive nights there, I decided to move on. I relocated to a state park on the other side of Crestview, which turned out to be a much better option.
For anyone considering similar choices in the area, here’s a quick comparison:
In short: If you're just needing a base camp for errands like a DMV visit, skip the premium-priced options when a solid state park is available. Lesson learned!
