This is a replacement bought for my current Bike Rack which required me to lift the bike onto the rack. This one is actually designed for a motorcycle up to 600 lbs. Note the rear channel is a removable ramp. The problem with this one is after running the bike up the ramp (from the right) and setting the front wheel in the wheel rack, nothing holds the bike in place so I can proceed to strap it down. (Note the dual receiver adapter originally inverted & used to haul a trailer & a bike rack at the same time.)
Making use of the dual receiver adapter, in this configuration I now have BOTH bike rack installed. Note a)the aluminum attachment to the upper bike rack for hooking the ramp...
and b) the lower rack has been turned around 180 so the ramp is now on the front and it loads from the left. The attempt to run the bike up the ramp and across the skinny upper back was too precarious. I actually dropped the bike on the first attempt.
So I cannibalized the upper rack and mounted the two halves to the lower rack.
Note the cut out in the rack to allow for the holding arm. This then interfered with the ramp location when stored.
So the ramp channel was moved to the other side again.
And... it Works!
