Visited Mom on April 29, 2025, and found her in high spirits, alert, and engaged. No signs of sleepiness observed during the visit.
**Key Observations:**
1. **Arrival and Initial Interaction:**
- Mom was wearing non-bling slippers. When asked about her "bling" slippers, she suggested they might be under the bed.
- I located the bling slippers under the bed. While struggling to stand, Mom jokingly asked, "Dennis? How old are you?" I responded, "Not as old as you," prompting laughter.
2. **Engagement with Echo Show and Calendar:**
- Mom was reading her calendar of events on her Echo Show, including an 8:55 a.m. event titled "Four Sisters, Three Cellos, and a Piano." She expressed enthusiasm, saying, "Boy, that sounds good."
- I attempted to replay the event using her phone but realized I brought the wrong phone (a prototype phone playing the event at home).
- Identified a need for a voice command to trigger events (e.g., “Computer, four sisters, three cellos, and a piano”) in addition to scheduled times for easier access.
3. **Entertainment:**
- Played a John Pinette comedy video, which Mom thoroughly enjoyed, laughing throughout. Noted to include more of his videos in her entertainment rotation.
4. **Calendar and Event Planning:**
- Obtained a copy of the May calendar from the bulletin board to populate upcoming events on Mom’s Echo Show calendar.
- Left Mom laughing at the John Pinette video as I departed.
**Echo Show Operational Events:**
- Mom’s Echo Show displays operational events (e.g., calls to Kathy, me, or Bonnie, device controls) alongside daily activities.
- These events are programmed to appear ~10 minutes before major activities (calls, activities) to prepare Mom.

**New Development: Voice-Activated Event Triggers**
- Spent hours creating voice command triggers for scheduled routines to enhance accessibility.
- Compiled a list of voice commands in a spreadsheet, took a snapshot, and uploaded it to an Amazon Photos album.
- Scheduled the snapshot to display daily at 9:45 a.m. on Mom’s Echo Show (during her Bald Eagles Nest Live Cam) for Mom or caregivers to trigger events as needed.
- This setup is experimental; will monitor effectiveness.
