I did not want to label the boys until I am sure who is who. Probably dad on the left. Wondering if that might be George Martin on the right. Sent off to Linda and Don Sr to ask them.

Rich / Kathy... where is this? Bonnie was telling me that on one of mom's trips to Mich, she and the kids brought a sick Grandma Landers (Louise) from Mich to her house. Could this have been that trip?

I have done nothing with these two. The relationship to Ida May Kountz is difficult to show even in the family tree. They are descendants of Grandma's (Ida May Kountz) aunt. Wonder where so many names came from? Ida, Lola, Beryl?

Mom's Doctor Visit:

Yesterday Mom was taken to her doctor for a follow up on her feet issues. (3rd visit) It sounds like there is little improvement. She has an open wound on the top of one toe on each foot. (2 wounds) The doctor reported to brother Rich that on one foot the wound is still open and on the other the bone was showing and he took a bone sample. (ouch) They provided an antibiotic cream to be put on each toe daily and also prescribed antibiotic medicine to be taken daily.

Mom's TV Mirrored

I have a small ONN TV identical to the one I bought put in Mom's room. When I am using the RV I have it there as my outside TV. Here at home I have it outside on the porch. But now in the winter I do not use it, till now. I have mounted it next to my big TV and I have programmed it (Alexa Routines) to mirror all mom's TV actions, (volume off) in order to monitor and be aware of what she is seeing; in case some TV programming changes and I do not know it. Mom's TV Programming

Having mirrored Mom's current TV programming, on my 2nd TV here; I realized the bulk of her viewing was Carol Burnett; every day for months. So I have spent considerable time finding a reprogramming each day from noon to 6 pm with something different each day.

Misc;

Having missed going into visit Mom yesterday I plan to visit today; barring the unknown doctor visit Mom is supposed to have been scheduled by Lakeview. This is still up in the air as far as I know at this time.

December 12, THURSDAY

Yesterday's visit to Mom...

was rather revealing. Brother Rich had been notified a week ago or more by the wound care center that they wanted Mom back for a follow-up on her feet issues. Lakeview Assisted Living needs to be notified and coordinate the visit to the wound care center. Brother Rich reached out to Lakeview but couldn't get them to act.
A week's worth of unanswered phone calls and un-returned messages from both Rich and the wound care center resulted in nothing happening. Even the couple times Rich got through to the manager Eric, nothing got done.
Mom missed the Tuesday appointment that the wound care center wanted her to come to. I arrived Wednesday and spoke with staff in their office. Such a case of denial and backs turned to me (literally) I never saw.
In my past as a customer support manager, the first thing I would do is inquire when calls were made and to whom messages were left in a sincere attempt to get to the bottom of what went wrong. No one was the least bit interested.
They are clearly accustomed to not responding to the customers' needs. I did watch a lady call the wound center on my behalf, and the wound center replied that their computers were down and they would call her back. Good luck with that.
My next visit will be Friday or Saturday, and if I cannot confirm that Mom's appointment is scheduled, Rich will call the wound center, and I will pick up and transport Mom to the appointment.

...after making all the revisions for the Steelers game I only THEN realized the Steelers are not showing on CBS today. It is showing on FOX. And the cable system at Lakeview will not show the game on FOX. I have been down this road before. ugh

Steelers Solution:

After learning that Mom's "Lakeview" TV Provider will not show today's Steeler's game, I went to bed with the wheels turning. Woke up with a solution. The 15 in Echo Shows have Amazon Fire TV built in. I have never before even looked at it, but now I know much about it.

The Missing link between Open Fire TV .... ? .... Open xxx on YouTube TV is the needed $85/month subscription to YouTube TV. I purchased this morning with a 5 day free trial. I will cancel tomorrow. (grin)

The subscription is shareable on my Google Family Plan. So I shared it with Mom.

So all the pieces are available to watch the Steelers on her Echo Show. I just need to put them in place before 4:30 PM.... AT HER PLACE. Ugh

Next Steps:

Wouldn't it be cool if the Echo Show could be mirrored/cast to her TV.

December 16, MONDAY

Visit to Wound Care:

Rich attended Mom at the would Care Center today and provided the following information / and photos.

They want her to keep the feet warm all the time. I have never seen her without socks on, but Rich said they transported her today without socks on.

They want to try and improve her circulation and Rich explained she is now wearing Diabetic Socks. Upon my visit yesterday mom was again wearing the new socks and actually carried on how nice they were and they did not leave rings on her legs like the other ones did.

The doctors are prescribing some cream and also some OTC cleansing something.

(between us girls, I often wonder how much and what gets done with Mom regarding the "nusing" needs. Some sort of log would be nice to know / see what was done and when)

Her next appointment is on Dec, 24, at 9:30 and Kathy will attend.

The doctor (Thomas P Michael) had the Appointment made (12/14/2024) for a return to the wound care. He is also ordering a visit to the Heart & Vascular Center.

Questions:

#1: I will follow up today to learn if the appointment has been made. If not, Rich and I have concurred we can make the necessary appointment and take mom to it ourselves if needed; including preregistration at www.heritagevalley.org

#2: The doctor had noted mom's toenails need clipping. This is beginning to open more questions (for me at least) what is all included in her care? I will try to learn.

#3: I also wonder what kind of records are kept with regards to her treatment in the home? i. e. When a bandage is change; when medication is applied; etc. I think I need to tread lightly. Lakeview is not a "nursing home" yet they seem to be trying to accommodate her nursing needs.

#4: Is there an email address they can provide to directly communicate with the nurse or even the day supervisor (Carol is one that I know well)? With read receipts I know when any of my sent emails have been read.

Post Mom Visit:

I visited Mom today and wanted to share the results. I sought out Carol, the daylight supervisor, but she was busy passing out medication. I hesitated to interrupt her, but asked if we could speak later. While I was talking to the George, she snuck away. I found her upstairs, again very busy. So I just gave her my card and asked if she could call me later in the day.

To my surprise, I had a call from Shannon the nurse. I first schmoozed her up by telling her how great we thought the place was and how everyone was so friendly. I told her I understood the place is not a nursing home per se, and that one day Mom may deteriorate and we would need to have her moved to a nursing home.

She corrected me and said that is not true. She said that as Mom's needs increase, they will bring in whoever is needed to assist. I mentioned that the doctor had said she needed her toe nails clipped. Shannon replied they have a podiatrist to take care of people's feet, but their person has recently left and the new one will be there at the end of January.

Shannon informed me the Doppler appointment had been made to look at Mom's circulation. The appointment is on Monday at 1:00 p.m., which is good so information will get back to the doctor on Tuesday.

I also informed her that if there were ever any problems with transporting Mom, brother Rich and I would be happy to transfer her if needed. She seemed to really like hearing that.

I asked if it would be possible to have an email address for her so I can communicate with her by email. She seemed to really like that idea and wishes everyone will just reach out to her. I now have her email address.

I mentioned the pre registration web address that I would be willing to use to register Mom’s upcoming visits, and she said that would be great but if not, they would just continue to register her at arrival.

Going forward, I would like to ask that everyone just reach out to me and let me reach out to her and we'll see how that goes.

Portal Stuff:

I have been logging into mom's online Heritage Valley Portal site in the hopes of helping out Lakeview doing her pre registration on her upcoming Doctor Appointments. I will try to learn more when I join her at the hospital Monday Afternoon.

Two upcoming Appointments. I will attend Mon 1:00 PM.

Sister will attend Tues 9:30 AM.

Her Portal continues to show NO upcoming appointments which is where the option to pre register would be.

I think the issue is these are the only Doctors in her list of Scheduling options. And they do not include the doctors she is seeing in the upcoming Appointments.

I have added Her current wound care doctor as one of her providers, but it still is not showing her upcoming appointment.
